English for Education (OPEN UNI)

Required proficiency level: Students are expected to have had English as their A1 or A2 language at the upper secondary school or have acquired equivalent skills. If you need to take English but lack this background, please get in touch with the contact teacher for the course to discuss individual solutions.

Objectives: - to develop students' English language skills needed for effective communication on different topics related to education and teaching - to practice comprehending and producing oral presentations and written texts using formal or semi-formal English - to use digital tools to support their language learning. Learning outcomes - by the end of the course, students are expected to be able to: - interpret, discuss and write about topics related to the field of education, utilising formal or semi-formal styles for both academic assignments and professional discussions - search for information on a chosen educational theme as well as analyse and explain the ideas - better communicate with parents and colleagues from foreign backgrounds.

Timing: - Early Childhood Education: second year - Education Sciences: second year - Learning Sciences: second year - Music Education: first year - Primary Teacher Education: second year - Special Education: second year Target group: Students of the Faculty of Education and Psychology. Other information: Attendance is compulsory for ALL students in the first lesson.
