Material Culture (OPEN UNI)
From
5 cr
Culture materializes in artefacts, built enviroment and human bodies. Meanings attached to material vary across time and places, and material itself modifies concepts and habits. Material heritage is reconstructed and destroyed. How is value created to material and how its circulation produces sosial orders? How is history approached through artefacts? Or what kind of agency does technology owe? The course is a unique combination of archeological and cultural anthropological approaches to material culture. It familiarizes the student with classical research of material culture as well as provides knowledge of fresh theories and research methods of the subject.
