What you need to know before the course

What you will learn

Student is able to master the key knowledge and skills required for the gerontological nurse's work, be able to make decisions and work independently as a nurse. Student is capable to work in collaboration with older adults, their families to support healthy aging, maximum functioning, and quality of life. Student is able to plan, implement and evaluate gerontological patient`s nursing ethically and safely using reliable evidence-based information. Student is able to work as a member of the interprofessional gerontological team during the nursing process. Student is able to evaluate his/her own skills and develop his/her own professional acting in a goal-oriented manner.

Opiskelijat valitsevat sairaanhoitotyön syventävät opinnot oman urasuunnitelmansa mukaisesti. Kannattaa perehtyä etukäteen, millaisia koulutus- ja osaamisvaatimuksia työnantajat ovat määritelleet sairaanhoitajille erilaisissa työyhteisöissä. Gerontologisen hoitotyön opintojakson (5 op) voi valita myös vapaasti valittaviin opintoihin. Syventävien opintojen valintaprosessista ja ilmoittautumisesta informoidaan etukäteen.
