For their proficiency in English, students receive an additional skill level marking in their degree certificate as stipulated in the Universities of Applied Sciences Act. This marking is based on the results of the final exams.

The course is carried out for a year group of cultural management students as a continuum (2 + 3 ECTS) in the early or middle stage of their studies.
The first part of the course (2 ECTS) is assessed Approved / Not completed. In the end of the latter part of the course, both the oral and the written language proficiency are assessed numerically (0–5). The assessment is based on the Common European Framework of Reference and on the recommendations given for teaching languages and communication at universities of applied sciences in Finland.
