Life and Studies in Spanish-speaking Countries – KiVANET: Spanish 4 (CEFR A2.1)

Prerequisites

Starting level CEFR A2(Opens in a new tab) . Spanish 2 at the Language Centre or equivalent skills. If unsure about your skill level or the appropriate completion method, contact the course teacher(Opens in a new tab) or teacher tutor(Opens in a new tab) during their office hours before registration. After completing the course, students will

• Understand clear speech in standard Spanish on study and everyday topics
• Handle routine interactions in study-related contexts
• Understand the main ideas and common sentence structures in simple texts
• Be able to talk about past events in Spanish
• Know about the culture of Spanish-speaking countries.

The course material is available in the Moodle learning environment. Texts, glossaries and grammar sections may be downloaded for personal use.

Completion methods

• 75 hours of independent online study
• Three joint online meetings (six hours in total)
• Mid-course assignments
• Final examination

Assessment methods and criteria

Assessment is based on the learning outcomes and completion methods.

It includes continuous assessment, teacher feedback and assessment, as well as peer and self-assessment.

Activities and methods in support of learning

Study methods include independent online study, as well as pair and small-group work during joint sessions.

The course is available to students from all faculties as well as international and KiVANET students.
