The course addresses social change from the perspective of the global history of work, livelihood, and survival. It examines the development of paid employment, work, and employment relationships in Finland and around the world from the perspective of global intersectional labour history and the microhistory of work and livelihood. The course themes include free and unrestricted work, livelihood, ethnicity and gender, household coping strategies, and the intergenerational dynamics of inequality.
