Global economic change (Economic and Social History)

Intermediate studies

The course provides an overview of world economic history over the past thousand years in light of the latest research. Global economic growth, development disparities between and within countries, and economic crises and related interpretations are discussed from an empirical perspective. Themes include the phases of economic growth, structural changes in economies, closing the gap and segregation, the development of living standards and disparities, the construction of modern national economies and economic policies, and the major historical debates of economic policy.
