Always necessary material: Knowing: Basic concepts: pressure, volume, work, temperature, heat, specific heat, internal energy, enthalpy, entropy, stress, strain and elastic modulus; Conduction of heat, Fouriers law; equation of state for ideal gas , molar heat capacities; Kinetic gas theory , Maxwell distribution, equipartition of energy ; Laws of thermodynamics ; Thermodynamic processes in pV-graph; Cyclic engines: heat engine, refrigerator and heat pump; Bernoulli s equation and continuity equation. Applying: Heat conduction in different materials; State of the gas using the equation of state; Work and heat in a thermodynamic process; Heat, work and efficiency in cyclic process; Strain and stress due to a force; Flow speed and pressure in laminar incompressible fluid. Complementary material: Knowing: Other equations of state; Dulong - Petit law; other than pV-diagrams; Irreversible processes; Diffusion; Thermal stress and strain; Pressure as bulk stress, Buoyancy.
