How the economy works?

Recommended prerequisites: -

Students who complete the course will understand the most important features of a market-based economic system. They will identify the broad outlines of economic history and appreciate the importance of institutions in developing the economy. In particular, students will perceive the important role of price mechanisms in the allocation of economic resources, and the role of the public authorities in monitoring the market and in correcting its shortcomings.

Students will know the importance of investing and financial markets for the operations of companies and the economy overall. They will understand the factors affecting growth and economic cycles and be able to use the information to analyse societal challenges. The student will learn to obtain and interpret statistical material from outside the course.

Implementations are not necessarily organised in all the languages of study attainments marked for the study unit.
