Elementary Academic Thinking

The course covers basic ideas in sciences, humanities and engineering. We will discuss theories and models, experimental research, observation, simulation, and statistical research. During the course, small experiments and design tasks are implemented alone and in groups. The students learn creative and critical thinking by doing and participating. Topics include information retrieval, probability and risk, approximations and order of magnitude estimates, measurements and errors, scientific experiments, engineering design, decision-making.
