Unit Operations

After the course the student:

- knows the most common unit operations and is able to select proper method based on the need

- is able to interpret phase equilibrium diagrams and is able to choose models to describe the phase equilibrium. Can solve phase equilibria problems with suitable software

- knows the operating principle of process simulators and is able to solve mass and energy balances with these, set specifications and optimize processes

- is able to look for and apply empirical correlations for estimation of physical properties and use these as model parameters in modelling of processes

- understands the mechanistic modelling of industrial chemical processes and is able to form simple process models and solve them

- is able to dimension some unit operations at basic level
