Innovative Product Development TUTA2270 or equivalent BSc or MSc level innovation course is required as prequisite and this will be checked from all the registered.
This is a master's level course in Industrial Engineering and Management programme. A BSc degree is required from Industrial Engineering and Management or closed field is required to participate in the course.

This course aims to present to the students the concepts of technology evolution, technology life cycle, technology portfolios, technology readiness level and technology road-maps. It is intended to appeal to those interested in management of technology oriented firms, creating technology-driven startups, or consulting such companies. Participants will get complete view of Technological evolution process, from inventions and innovation to state of the art, maturity and obsolescence and practical skills how to select between different technological options.
In the course, students will learn to:

1. Develop an awareness of the range, scope, and complexity of technological innovation, and the issues related to managing technological change.
2. Problem-solving and decision-making skills to understand different approaches to managing innovation.
3. Identify drivers and barriers to technological innovation in industry sectors and within an organization.
4. Understand what it takes to manage technological development.

The exam booking must be made separately in the EXAM system, and the exam is taken in the University of Vaasa EXAM room or as an exam visit in another higher education institution’s EXAM room.”
