By the end of this course, students will have an in-depth understanding of key concepts such as business ethics, corporate social responsibility, and sustainability, focusing on their application in various contexts. They will be able to discuss these topics from an international business perspective. The course explores business ethics and its significance, providing both academic and practical insights into corporate social responsibility and stakeholder theory across different types of organizations. It also addresses data sharing, digital information management and transfer, as well as the ethical considerations associated with technology use, AI, and data-driven decision-making in a global business context.
Students will have the opportunity to practice ethical decision-making by analyzing how organizations navigate ethical dilemmas. The course supports the development of students’ skills in problem-solving, responsible and ethical decision-making for sustainable global business, critical and analytical thinking, and effective collaboration in diverse teams. In addition, the course builds students’ skills in managing and evaluating data and digital content, while promoting responsible business conduct. It also helps them understand ethical risks and regulations so they can make informed decisions in digital contexts.
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
(i) identify ethical, social, and environmental issues in business, with an emphasis on responsible consumption and production practices (SDG 12), and recognize how digital information and data sources shape the identification of such sustainability issues.
(ii) demonstrate knowledge of the key concepts and theories, including those related to sustainable development, to promote lifelong learning and quality education (SDG 4);
(iii) employ available frameworks to analyze business ethics, corporate social responsibility and sustainability in corporate and managerial decision-making;
(iv) evaluate, at an introductory level, the challenges and opportunities of sustainable economic growth and decent work in the global business environment (SDG 8), and identify ethical risks and regulatory considerations related to the integration of digital technologies in global business operations.
(v) construct viewpoints by reflecting on personal principles, committing to responsible behavior, integrity, and the promotion of peaceful and inclusive institutions in their future careers (SDG 16).
