Modern Power System Protection

After completing this course, a student will be able to describe the protection principles of different parts of the electrical power system and the protective devices used, along with their operating principles. The student will acquire the ability to develop and design protection schemes tailored for various power system components applying overcurrent, differential, and distance relays. The student will be able to determine the settings of protective relays and explain the most important terms related to relay protection technology. The course emphasizes the application of modern digital protection technologies. Additionally, the student will gain theoretical knowledge and learn practical skills in this field. Additionally the course develops problem-solving and decision making skill (exercises) and interpersonal skills (group works in laboratory).
