Application of Functional Materials

This course is a continuation of the course “Properties of Functional Materials”. Functional materials with prominent characteristics are used as examples for different applications. Materials classified as energy material and there use as energy harvesting, converting, harvesting and transferring of energy will be discussed. Different ways of applying these materials in optical and in energy devices (light emitting diodes, solar cells, supercapacitors, smart windows etc), in transistors, sensors, medical applications and as catalyst materials are discussed.

Additionally, the course discusses how to combine materials into efficient composite materials in order to modify the functionality to fit different applications.
