Cyber Security Base: Course Project II

The course has the following prerequisites:

• The following courses in the Cyber Security Base course series are highly recommended:
• • Introduction to Cyber Security
  • Securing Software
  • Course Project I
  • Advanced Topics

Upon completing the course the student will be able to

• explain and apply intrusion toolkits (such as metasploit),
• explain and apply detection intrusion toolkits (such as metasploit)

The course material consists of

• online material (https://cybersecuritybase.mooc.fi/(Avautuu uuteen välilehteen)), and
• several external online materials (articles, videos). These links are specified in the course material.

Completion methods

Grading is based on the final report.

Assessment practices and criteria

The grading scale is pass/fail.

To pass the course the student must complete the project, write the essay reporting the findings, and participate in peer review.

Activities and teaching methods in support of learning

The course is a MOOC course with the study material available online.

A support channel (online chat) is provided.

Target groups

The course is intended for Master's students and last-year Bachelor's students. Available also to students from different degree programmes.

Recommended time/stage of studies for completion

The course is recommended to be completed during the last year for Bachelor's students and the first year for Master's students.

Term/teaching period when the course will be offered

The MOOC course can be completed throughout the year. The recommended schedule is in the spring (3rd or 4th period).

The course is part of the Master's Programme in Computer Science, an optional course in the Networks study track.
