How is historical research read? How are research results analyzed? What is source criticism? In this course, you will learn to analyze and evaluate historical research and familiarize yourself with various source materials. You will learn to prepare concise oral presentations and participate in historical discussions. The course will give you an understanding of how historical research is practically conducted. You will learn about the research process, where to find sources, and the practices of the field.

Upon completion of the course, students will be able to read, analyse, and assess historical research by utilising the basic approaches and principles of the field; based on that, students will be able to formulate a summarised oral presentation and take part in discourse in the field of science of history. Students will be able to outline how the research of history is conducted in practice. Students will also be familiar with the research process and the practices of the field. Students will develop their independent and group work skills, practice scientific writing and critical reading of scientific texts.
