Social Rehabilitation

You know how to act professionally in different encounters and interactive situations of guidance work. You are able to act constructively when guiding clients and in network co-operation. You understand the significance of psychosocial support in client work and guidance work. You are able to describe the social welfare and health care service system and name acts that govern it. You are able to describe what the client's participation and agency in the service system mean and which values and principles guide the service system.

The aim of the course is learning to understand social rehabilitation as a support form for individuals’ and communities’ agency, a professional activity and a part of the service system and network-based work. On this course, students explore rehabilitation as a social process. Course competences: Ethics Sustaineble development Rehabilitation counselling and guidance (Degree Programme in Rehabilitation Counselling) Rehabilitation planning (Degree Programme in Rehabilitation Counselling) Competence in social client work (Degree Programme in Social Services) Critical and Inclusive Social Skills (Degree Programme in Social Services) Intended learning outcome: You know how agency can be strengthened by promoting the realisation of equality, non-discrimination, diversity and accessibility. You know how to work sensitively and dialogically with vulnerable individuals, communities and networks. You are able to support individuals, groups and communities in different operating environments and changes related to life situations in a goal-oriented and client-centric manner. You are able to use a proactive and rehabilitating work approach that promotes well-being in social rehabilitation. You know what structured social work is, and you are able to influence decision-making on social rehabilitation at the level of the individual, community and society. You recognise structures and processes that produce inequalities, underprivilege and well-being. You know how the quality and impact of social rehabilitation are evaluated and monitored based on information.
