The course provides an overview of sociology as a discipline and mindset as well as presents the basic concepts of sociology.

The course examines some of the key sociological theories pertaining to social structures, social activities and social interaction. It also familiarises students with research on social phenomena focusing, among other things, on culture, signs, the media, social meanings, the economy, science and technology. The course provides insight into the historical importance of activities and processes while presenting a sociological view of social development. Finally, contemporary social analyses are presented.
