International and global organization

After completing the course, the student has a broad understanding of the development stages, structure, and operation of the international system at different times. The student understands the changes in actors and practices of international relations, the development of the institutions of the international system, crisis and transition periods, the status of states, and the international and global effects of states exercising their power internally and externally. The course examines the trends and approaches of the historical research of international relations. After completing the course, the student is able to place Finland in international interactions and examine the effects of the system’s transitions on Finnish society. The course provides students with the skills to understand the meanings and features of large global systems and to critically argue the factors behind them.

Lähiopetuksessa hyödynnetään myös muuta soveltuvaa kirjallisuutta ja tieteellisiä artikkelieita e-lehdissä.

Arvioinnissa otetaan huomioon kaikki suoritusten osa-alueet ja edistetään itsearviointia.

Lähiopetus koostuu vuosittaisessa opetusohjelmassa tarkennattavalla tavalla luentokurssista ja sen yhteydessä opiskelijoiden ryhmätöistä ja/tai kirjallisista tehtävistä.

Kuulustelussa opiskelija puolestaan tutustuu kirjallisuuteen itsenäisesti ja vastaa kuulustelussa essee-/luentopäiväkirja tyyppisiin kysymyksiin, jotka edellyttävät ennen kaikkea kirjojen kokonaiskuvan hallintaa.

Vastuuopettajalta voi perustellusta syystä tiedustella mahdollisuutta myös muihin mahdollisiin suoritustapoihin. Muut suoritustavat kuitenkin aina resurssien mukaan ja opiskelijoiden yhdenvertaisuus huomioiden.

Pääasiallinen kohderyhmä poliittisen historian opintosuunnan maisteriopiskelijat. Vuosittaisen opetusohjelman sekä koulutusohjelman jatkuvan oppimisen suunnitelman määrittämissä rajoissa avoinna myös muille yhteiskunnallisen muutoksen maisteriohjelman sekä tutkinto-ohjelman ulkopuolisille opiskelijoille.
