Logic in philosophy

Intermediate studies

The course introduces the role and nature of logic in philosophy. It will expand the understanding of quantification (e.g., definite descriptions, generalized quantifiers, second order quantifiers), introduce the basic concepts of modal logic and different philosophical debates related to e.g., the concept of logical consequence, alternative logics and their philosophical motivations, differences among first and second order logics, the problem of logical constrants and more generally epistemology and metaphysics of logic.
